The Keepsake, Kate Elizabeth Bunce, 1901

This card shows motifs from the Birmingham School of Art, popular in the 1880's. Ethel Newill modelled for the figure on the right, a friend of Bunce's who came from a prominent artistic Birmingham family.

Katie Palmer, the second figure from the right holding a stick, was also a friend of the artist. Margaret Louisa Wright modeled for the throne figure and was Bunce's cousin.
Margaret wrote in her diary that she was asked to sit replacing an ill model.
